Multiple vial storage for maximum future flexibility and maximum sample security
Multiple vials allow for the possibility of multiple usage in the future. Samples are typically stored in at least three individual cryovials. It is expected that physicians will someday be able to amplify a small number of cells, using cell expansion technology to allow for multiple uses of a single sample. CBBC’s method of storage will allow physicians to take advantage of this technology once it becomes available.
Only cryovials protected with a cryosheath have proven long-term storage dependability. Independent studies published in medical journals conclude that long-term cryopreservation of stem cells stored in cryovials yields high recovery rates of viable cells.
CBBC is the only family bank in Canada to use shatter-proof polypropylene cryovials which are hermetically sealed in a cryosheath for additonal sample security. This double containment system is designed specifically to protect samples stored cryogenically by eliminating the possibility of bag breakage in liquid nitrogen. Ask your care manager why this is important.
